The Young Warrior's Quest for Freedom
In the depths of despair, a young man doth stand,
His pockets empty, his future unsure,
A mere shadow of his former grand,
His once bright prospects now obscure.
Though he may be broke and oft deemed dumb,
This youth doth strive to be a good man,
A beacon of hope for those who've become
Ensnared in life's cruel, cruel span.
For he doth stand for the deprived,
Fighting for those who've been cast aside,
With integrity and principles alive,
He'll not be bought or sold, no matter the tide.
But alas, I too got caught up in his plight,
Messed up in his problems and crisis,
My heart heavy with sorrow and spite,
As I watched him struggle with life's maladies.
But through it all, he still tried to be kind,
To love and to care for all those around.
He knows the language of love, and in his mind
Lies the hope that one day, he'll be found.
I believe in this young man's attitude,
In his character, in his unwavering stand.
He'll be a role model for all, imbued
With the courage to reach his promised land.
And though he may stumble and fall,
He'll rise again, with freedom in sight.
For he is a true warrior, standing tall,
With integrity and principles as his might.
So let us all strive to be like him,
To stand for the deprived and fight for what's right,
For in the end, it is not wealth or limb,
But character that makes us truly bright.
And as this youth doth reach his destination,
We'll see his freedom, and our own, take flight.
And so, as this young man doth reach his goal,
We'll see his spirit, unbroken and true,
Shine bright as the sun, a shining role,
Model for all, in their struggles anew.
For he hath shown us that with integrity,
And principles, one can rise above,
The trials and tribulations of life's glee,
And find true freedom, with hope and love.
But alas, not all doth follow his lead,
For in this world, there are those who'd sell,
Their integrity and principles, for greed,
And in the end, their souls shall dwell,
In darkness, where no light doth shine,
And true freedom, forever out of reach.
But this young man doth not falter, nor whine,
For he knows that in the end, he'll breach,
The boundaries of oppression and hate,
And in his victory, we'll all celebrate.
For he hath shown us that with perseverance,
And a steadfast heart, one can overcome,
The obstacles that life doth impose, with immense
Courage, and a spirit, forever young.
And so, as he doth reach his destination,
We'll see his freedom, and our own, take flight.
For he hath shown us that with determination,
One can reach their promised land, with might,
And in his triumph, we'll all see,
That true freedom, lies in integrity.
For he hath shown us that true freedom,
Is not found in wealth or power,
But in one's character, and their wisdom,
In the way they choose to live, hour by hour.
And so, as he doth reach his destination,
We'll see his freedom, and our own, take flight.
About this poem
The poem is a philosophical and scientific exploration of the concept of freedom and its relation to integrity and principles. It tells the story of a young man who, despite his financial struggles and societal judgments, strives to be a good person and stand up for the marginalized. The poem also examines the speaker's own experience of getting caught up in the young man's struggles, but ultimately finding hope in his attitude and character. The poem uses complex and advanced Elizabethan English vocabulary to convey the themes and ideas in an elegant and elevated manner. It employs the sestina form, a difficult and intricate poetic structure, to further emphasize the complexity and depth of the topic at hand. The repetition of key words throughout the poem, such as "deprived," "integrity," and "principles," highlights their importance in the overall message of the poem. The poem ultimately argues that true freedom is not found in wealth or power, but in one's character and wisdom. It posits that the young man's integrity and principles are the key to his eventual triumph and freedom. The final lines of the poem, in which the young man reaches his destination and his freedom takes flight, serve as a powerful and uplifting conclusion. more »
