Reflection on Mother

As I walked through the door of the grocery store,
She was standing right there in the glass.
She seemed so surprised to be still recognized,
For many long years had passed.

As shoppers rushed by, my mother and I
Shared a moment both bitter...

Fear not, my love.
You are not forgotten.
Should fate destroy this fragile brain,
Still, memories of you remain
In every cell within this frame.
My body will remember.

I read all 150 poems and pinned 3 of them. This was the first I pinned, although it has some disconcerting variations in its rhythm and rhyme. It struck me because I can relate to the sentiment of feeling like a man-shaped hole after losing 13 loved ones in successive
