My Firstborn Son

Charley Edward Hinkel 1979 (Canton, OH)

You are a million times more important than I.
Living without you makes me want to cry.
You'll be the center of my Universe-
Everything else a borderline curse.
And to bring you happiness, we'll always try.

Though you haven't been born yet,
We love you so much, you can bet
And we want to see you walk
and hear you begin to talk.
And witness your first breath.

About this poem

I have to top my father, a (hopefully) possible task. It can't be done. But I'm going to try to be better for my son than he was or is for me. I have no business putting anything before fatherhood, but the girls in my area are old or ugly, or they don't know how to approach me. I need a wife!!! This will be awesome, raising children. II.
