Standing Alone
Trisha Rayfield 1980 (Bellflower)
I stand all alone,
Winds bend at my knees
Throughout an orchard
Wrinkled ruffling leaves
Tossed my hair over
With great drops of rain
Twisted and turning
Numbed out of most pain
This sky has turned gray
Purple scatters the skies
Within all this darkness
The fire never despised
Puddles of mud
Lay down in the curves
I swear i have talked
With all of the birds
Standing alone
Sets my heart free
With thinking
I will never let go
Of grasping my key
I stand all alone
Prey to wolves when they come
Should i hustle the ground
Hurts to fear how fast i would run.
Should i hunt a bear
Would deer and elk run
If my spear was sharpened
They would never see sun
The daylight would break
Yet not one sound
I have never encountered
Upon this ground
To walk alone and stand on my feet
I would stand alone
As each heartache would beat.
Like the sound of a drum
Within the soft leather
A hunter's kept wood
A tribes kept a feather
With one or two
Each bird call from sky
Soars rythyms of warnings
Rippling into my cry.
Unbearably cold crushed snow at my feet
I left home to camp turned into my fleet.
I will never forget I was never standing alone
That bear tracks i followed lead me home.
