Aphorisms For Reflection
Man, like mustard seed,
must nourish from fertile soil,
for him to keep Faith.
In times of long drought,
even the bitter hyssop
will taste like honey.
For the naked truth
words will provide clothing,
which needs no clothing.
Brain encloses Mind,
which, itself, encloses brain.
That is a puzzle.
When he is foolish,
a wise man will keep silent.
The fool still mutters.
About this poem
Written concisely, an aphorism is a pithy observation of life’s events and, like the proverbial mustard seed, contains a bounty of nature’s wealth to provide solace for those desiring greater understanding and spiritual nourishment from what life has to offer. This five-stanza haiku poem invites the reader to take a deep breath, and to ponder on the simplicity of nature, often made more complex by human intervention, human desires, and human ambition.
