Love Everlasting
Richard Newton Sherrer 1951 (Easton)
What shall we say on things,
If God has been for us;
All the good that He brings,
Who can be against us?
He did not spare His Son,
But gave Him up for us;
So graciously has done,
Giving us all as thus.
Who shall bring any charge,
Since God who justifies;
Of His elect at large,
When His Son glorifies.
Who is He to condemn,
Jesus the One who died;
And was raised up for them,
Whence being crucified.
Who shall separate us,
From Jesus and His love;
What would be the basis,
Of a peril thereof.
Shall a tribulation,
Nakedness or distress;
To cause persecution,
For feelings to profess.
As sheep to be slaughtered,
Being killed all day long;
The heart is not altered,
Unto Christ, you belong.
All these things we are more,
Than conquerors to Him;
Because of love to pour,
Filling us to the brim.
For neither death nor life,
Nor present nor future;
To overwhelm with strife,
In causing forfeiture.
No other creation,
Separate from His love;
Causing deviation,
Of blessings from above.
