Sky
She's small and she's wounded and wound up so tight. And no one and nothing just ever seemed right.
There were days without sunshine and nights with no spark so she painted the heavens and made friends with the dark.
Then the heavens she painted started coming to life, with hues of color and flashes of light.
There were browns so transparent that took shape into eyes, they were pools full of soul that commanded the skies.
There were tinges of copper that got spun into hair and when touching that magic would dispel any care.
Then the rose petal hues assembled a pout and a touch from those lips is what life is about.
The strong hands and arms took form late that night, like a wingspan of angels about to take flight.
The heart was so big that it shattered the ground, its beat so pulsating that she felt every sound.
And the girl who'd been spellbound and left there alone recognized her own dreamscape from the seeds that she'd sown.
From the flame she had carried, from the wish she had made, from the tears she had gathered, from the dues she had paid.
She was finally home and no longer afraid.
So when you think there's no purpose and everything's blue, look at my sky, it's all about you.
