Who Am I?

Sophia Onyeugbo 1982 (Clarksville, Arkansas)

Who am I?
I'm the Man that breathing Men seek to fight
I'm the Man that is hunted because I wasn't born White
I am not allowed to show anger or express how I feel
I'm told daily that me being discriminated against isn't real
I'm told that I'm lazy, that I'm a cheater and all I'm good for is making babies
It's been said I don't like to work and I have no problem disrespecting a Woman and her worth None of this is true, I will explain my side of this story
I work hard every day at a job where my White counterparts are more highly paid
I hardly get a good night's sleep and the Woman I love holds me in her arms as I weep
I'm not angry, I'm just drained because I'm tired of feeling shamed
Who am I?
I'm a Black Man in America trying to live a decent life
I'm a Black Man living in a society where the only thing constant, is trying to survive.
