The Human-Machine Dilemma: A Reflection on the ChatGPT Phenomenon
Mawphniang Napoleon 1993 (Ri Bhoi)
In the year of two thousand and twenty-three,
A strange surprise did catch my eye,
A website known as ChatGPT, I did read,
Could write poems, letters, with such skill, oh my!
I lived in Ri Bhoi, a village so small,
My network connection, it was quite slow,
I tried to access this strange website of all,
But alas, a message did appear below.
"ChatGPT is at capacity right now,
Get notified when we're back", it did say,
What did this mean, I asked myself, somehow,
I checked the Internet, to my dismay.
So many praised it, with awe and delight,
Its power to write, such a wonder, oh so bright.
But what of me, with my own talents and skills,
Will ChatGPT and AI surpass me with ease?
I must excel, for my competitor still,
Is my own self, I must always aim to please.
Thus I strive, to be better than I was,
For my talent and skills, I must always guard.
For though machines may be fast and precise,
They lack the human touch, the heart, the soul,
That which makes our words, our art, so nice,
That which makes our stories, our tales, unfold.
So let me not fear, this new technology,
For it can never take away what's mine,
My thoughts, my feelings, my creativity,
My essence, my spirit, my soul divine.
For I am human, with a heart that beats,
With emotions, with dreams, with hopes and fears,
And though machines may be able to compete,
They cannot replace what makes us real, so dear.
