Fear has been Defeated!
Benson Chukwueke 1971 (Owerri)
He gazed upon the skies
A view of a wandering eyes
Hallow eyes, filled with emptiness
Hopelessness and sadness
He was afraid of his own shadow
Cos his mind has become so shallow
He was afraid of tomorrow
He was afraid to live another day in sorrow
He said, what tomorrow will bring
will be nothing more than more pain
sickness, distress and loneliness in the rain
But I grabbed his fear firmly by the hand
let's take a leap from the phobic heights and land
I urged him, let us go
Don't observe the wind blow
let us move forward
But he retreated backward
He exclaimed, in this time and age
when the stormy weather rage
the hurricane, the tornado and the earthquake
My heart still quake
The darkest of the night
I cannot see the end of the tunnel's light
The darkness so thick in nature
I cannot see the future
To see is to believe, my friend
To believe is to see the end
Right then, I understood his perversity
why he faint in the time of adversity
Cos' his faith is small
His faith is so weak and stall
But he must learn how to walk on water
How to make his faith work in order
This is the mind set I must topple
I must preach to him the Gospel
to beat-down all his stronghold and phantoms
For the gospel is the solution to all human problems
The only power of God unto salvation
for all mankind elevation
I preach to him the gospel of faith
Cos' I knew by hearing comes faith
Hearing the word of God in good-faith
You understand this spiritual truth
That will make your life run so smooth
With the word of God in your mouth
You can chart the course of your life
You can prevent it from running rife
You can be the best you want to be
You can be so rich and healthy
As I speak to him words of faith
he looked up, eyes brightened
His gait rose up and heightened
He was ready to move forward
He was ready to jump upon the word
And take the world by storm
As I yet speak faith
Fear struggled away from my grasp
Then scamper and zap
Hurray, fear has been defeated!
