Forever has passed
Until the stars burn down
Leaving nothing but a silent town
Until the oceans dry up
Leaving my tears stale
My skin kissed but pale
Until we exist in more than moments
Until the world wears out
A child's face no longer left to pout
Until the planets collide
Nothing but a hollow sound
Morning and nights, round after round
Until my smile and sadness learn to coincide
Until my sorrow wears to bone
Your laugh, now nothing but a death tone
Until the wind calms another day
Weeping yet prying for the moon
As the sun screams, left aswoon
Until my soul has nothing left to say
Until my eyes forget that face
That dress, delicate, with lace
Until my heart forgets your mind
Every strum of your guitar, played just fine
Until my lungs forget your every breath
The flowers you gave me, awake from death
Every now and then I think about our life
Daydreaming just to pass the time
A singed mess
A bitter hope
But all I am is stress
The weight on the end of your rope.
Breathless my wounds sob
The bell tolls, the hour comes
But I'm ready for the moon to leave the sun
I'm ready, time to overcome.
About this poem
So many promises of "forever" are made, so many promises broken. I wrote this poem to symbolise what forever truly means. It isn't so easy to defy the word forever when it is clear that forever actually means something and holds wait in its definition.
