Reconciling Righteousness
Richard Newton Sherrer 1951 (Easton)
While we were still weak,
At the time that Christ died;
The ungodly did seek,
Cause for the crucified.
For one will scarcely die,
For a righteous person;
Who did not cheat or lie,
No sinful matters done.
Perhaps a good mortal,
One that would even dare;
To sacrifice his soul,
At a time of despair.
God shows His love for us,
While being sinners;
That Christ had died as thus,
To be righteous winners.
We are now justified,
Much more than we are saved,
Blood from the crucified,
Freed from being enslaved.
Saved from God and His wrath,
We are reconciled;
No longer on the path,
A life as defiled.
Rejoice in our God,
Through the Lord Jesus Christ;
Praise through honor and laud,
Through whom was sacrificed
