You Remind Me
You remind me of moonlight,
A reflection of a photogenic memory.
Vacant spaces linger in your presence.
Remnants of you scattered amongst my peripheral vision.
That smile you’ve shown me,
A field of sunflowers could never compare.
These rhythmic patterns in my chest are getting to be too much.
I am becoming breathless.
Touch me, hold me, love me and I’ll only drown in vertigo.
You remind me of a sunset,
The hue of a painting I once witnessed in the evening sky.
Call yourself an opiate, a disaster, a typhoon,
But this is pure love to me.
An endless palpitation.
It may have started as a foreign language,
A guide to not knowing when to speak so freely.
“Aquí estoy mi amor”;
If I could I’d shout those words out loud until my lungs could no longer grasp on to this oxygen
You remind me of raindrops,
A calm moment before a storm that eases my own anxiety.
But there’s this puddle the size of an ocean and I do not dare cross without your permission.
You remind me of intensity,
Small waves yet the frequency is a different kind of potency.
Take this heart of mine and bleed out its own passionate remedies.
Let it explode with fierce fervor.
I feel alive with you and it's breathtakingly beautiful.
Douse me in kerosene and let's dance together in the flames you've caught me in.
I could take a picture, it might last longer, but not of you; never of you.
You've been etched into my skull a million ages ago.
How could I forget?
You remind me of moonlight,
It's more poetic than the sun
