The truth

We learn from our own mistakes
so that we can develop
the strength, to give a place
to the pain and sorrow
that we carry.

This way we can understand
and let go of the things
that will haunt us all our lives,
so that we learn from the pain
and the mistakes
that we have made.

We believe that things happen
for a reason, that people change
so that we can learn to let go,
that things go wrong
so that we are grateful
when they go right.

We believe lies for example
and learn to trust
only in ourselves, that good
things fall apart, so that
something better
eventually takes its place.

We gain the power to look
into other people's feelings
and understand them,
that when someone is sad,
we know what to say
or what to do to make
that person feel better.

We can love someone
and after a while not love
that person anymore,
that when we say to that person
“I will always be there for you”
we do not actually mean it
but say it out of joy and love.

We can stay angry
for a very long time,
after an argument and ignore
that person for a long time
or not even talk to them,
we can even remove
that person from our lives.
