What is a Mother?

What is a mother?
Is she the one who takes care of us?
The one who holds me when I cry,
the one who calms me when I make a fuss.
Is she the one who knows best,
because God knows she always does.
She is the sum of who I am.
She made me after all.
Or am I the sum of who she is?
My skin, hair, face, eyes.
They were all hers before they were mine,
waiting to be passed on with time.
Her laughter, her smile, her walk,
all of these she gave to me before I could talk.
She passed down her wisdom,
for she has seen it all.
Her intelligence knows no bounds,
for what is there she doesn't already know?
She knows everything about me,
even the things I keep secret.
She knows my deepest thoughts and she loves me all the same.
A Mothers love is unconditional.
It knows no bounds and has no exceptions.
A Mothers love is unquestionable,
irreplaceable.
A Mother and her love could be seen as one in the same.
I have never seen one without the other,
tied together for eternity.
There is no better answer to this question,
The answer was there all along.
A Mother is love.
