Word Power
Richard Newton Sherrer 1951 (Easton)
If Joshua did give them rest,
God would not speak another day;
There remains a Sabbath is best,
For people of God to obey.
Whoever has entered God’s rest,
Has also rested from God’s deeds;
As God did for them to invest,
Recuperate what the body needs.
Strive forth to enter from labor,
That no one may fall by the same;
Noncompliance as their neighbor,
Disobey as God does proclaim.
For the Word of God is living,
Sharper than any two-edged sword;
No regrets for not forgiving,
If not confessing to the Lord.
Discerned thoughts proposed in the heart,
No creature hidden from His sight;
All are naked and cannot thwart,
To give an account of their plight.
