Swirling Emotions - Ego
Swirling Emotions – Ego
You enter my mind invading my quite referee.
Oh, why do you plague me so?
I am the ego that haunts, that tumultuous sea of negativity.
I swirl through and spread my seed into every one of your living cells.
I breathe and pulsate to life; my curse thrives on your lack of self-worth.
I am victorious and rising up like the wild engorged oceans of the world.
I sit on the precipice of the highest peak and watch your torment as you think to fall into the abyss.
I feel your fear, your anguish, your anger and your defeat.
Ha, I have won this fight and the power I yield is magnificent.
Let me stay here and fester like a cancer in your brain.
No, you shall not, for to do so is to admit defeat.
I am stronger for having met you. Yet I feel sickened by your demeanour.
I rise up against your victimization of me.
How dare you be so corrupt upon my soul, so loving and giving.
I now see the light; I see the beauty before me, I thrive on the positivity.
It ebbs and flows into life as it radiates through my every pore.
I am here oh lovely one to protect you as I surround you in a positive embrace.
Be gentle on your ego for it is one and the same. It weeps for you as I do. It fights to consume your mind as I do.
Do not give it power but let it gently stay, to be placated by your acceptance of it.
Let it breathe the air you breathe, let it linger upon your soul, upon your lips.
Learn from it and then let it ever so quietly sit upon your shoulder.
A friend in need to rise up and deal with the chaos when the time is right.
Be gentle with it and talk of the ways to mend the broken heart.
To mend the soul, to bring unity to the many tides of emotions.
Acceptance reigns in a positive light and claims victory.

About this poem
I wrote it as a reflective piece as a battle with the ego is something we all face. It is a reminder to be gentle and to allow it to ebb and flow. To tame it is to undermine it, as it can offer so much insight into who we really are.
