Dreams

The only dream I remember vividly was about flying,
and how peculiar is that? As someone
who never dreams, or remembers their dreams,
can remember one from so long ago?
In that dream I was in the sky, flying with large gray wings.
The wings were twice the length of my arm and speckled with
feathers so white, like stars in the night sky.

I remember the divine bliss of flying above clouds
both cotton candy and murky storm
the weightless freedom and no strings attached.
I woke up before I could reach my destination.

I want to fly again,
I yearn to taste the sky
and fly on wings I call my own, no strongs attached
no more will I be this burdening weight to those I love
I'll fly away and do them all a favor.

I'd do anything to relive that dream
of wind and clouds and sun,
to dance with the stars and sing with the moon
and court the birds and kites.

I long to taste the divine invention,
that idea of my own creation,
but it's beyond my capabilities that limit me
and those wings I so yearn will never be mine.

I long to fly.
