Lullaby
Sing me a lullaby
Put me to sleep
Kiss my forehead
And stay with me
Or don’t
I’ll still agree
Wherever you go
I’ll go
Whatever you want
I’ll give
Yours needs,
I’ll do my best to heed
As long as you let me stay by your side
Just for the night
Hopefully a few more
This time with the suns rays shining bright
Dawn to dust
Weekdays and weekends
Just whenever you have time for me
Time for us
Whenever you feel it’s right
Time stops with you
In a celestial realm where movement and motion is no more
I feel my heart pumped with love more and more
Yet I fell bad for wasting yours
Even without it’s presence
I’ll love you forever
As you let me
Cause if time stopped forever
I’d go back to give you it all over again
I’d still tell you to go do what you want
Love me less care for yourself more
Whatever I can get I will cherish and store
So don’t waste it on me
Please sing me a lullaby
Kiss me goodnight
Kiss me good morning as well
And rock me back and forth
I want to be selfish for once
Have you to myself
Though it’s my right
it’s only in writing I can ask you
To sing
Sing me a lullaby
As this time
I’ll put to you sleep
As I’ll kiss you goodnight
About this poem
This poem is about the familial dynamics of comforting a loved one while also looking up to them, in this aspect the child is comforting the parent rather than the parent comforting the child. In general it can be used as a consolation for those who need to be comforted.
