MOUNTAINTOP

mad hippie poet 1974 (new jersey)

Here, I sit alone on this mountaintop, listening to the sound of the pouring rain and looking at this painting that some may call a masterpiece. I get no rest. It seems like I am always awake. Who is it that is looking for my soul to take

Here I sit on this mountaintop, finding myself and losing everybody else
warm is the fire, like the color of my eyes. My mouth is open, but I do not hear what it is saying. If I could only read my lips, I would probably say I could never return home again. This mountaintop is my new best friend
I travel this road like yesterday, looking for new directions, thinking of lost loves, and mentioning my many lives and how I only had true freedom in this one.

I choose to take the road less traveled, meeting strangers during the days and nights. yet I always find myself sitting alone on my mountaintop
