Balance
We’re pulled both ways,
towards both extremes,
mottled and tarnished,
into uncertainty.
Decisions and choices
beg us to answer
when really what we need
is the simplest simplicity.
Tears and smiles
draw us to their respective sides,
slyly convincing us
of that which is a lie.
And, really, all we need
is a balance,
a final judgment of the scales
to set us all straight.
