Exeunt

Thick curtains parted for one last encore,
while thrown florals fell at his trembling feet.
Bright floodlights grew dim 'pon the warrior,
who bowed with respect; his farewell so sweet!

The play'd run it's course and he'd been its star
for all those long nights - a brilliant display!
He knew all the lines and never did mar
the passionate throng with notes gone astray!

His eyes shed a tear; he humbled himself
for his last 'Hurrah!', before he would go.
He drank in the 'plause and gathered the pelf
that he'd long embrace; his bravissimo!

He left with a smile and head held up high,
for his greatest role was saying, 'goodbye!'
