It Came in the Night

It came in the Night,
A horrid surprise for dear old loveable me;
Twas at first sight my sleepy peace did flee!
For there in the corner, yes that corner,
My tired eyes did spot the hideous black sheen;
Of a tiny invader, the Devil's crusader,
Smiling and laughing with glee!

A brute he was, black hearted and cruel,
Whose very presence struck me still;
But quick like a whip, I sprung up with a yip,
To bid said creature to duel;

And my slipper did fall, Oh bless it all, upon his horrible, hideous head,
And I let out a cry thanking the Night that the terrible beast lay dead;
And with the renewed silence, came the kiss of Sleep,
Restoring the World to how it should always remain:
Roachless
