Illusions Delusions
I have seen him, truly I have,
there just in the shadows
on the edge of my sight, truely I have.
He comes in the night, when most are asleep
scratches my window and howls on the wind,
into my room, all alone he will creep.
Black as coal-tar, red eyes all aflame,
hot breath on my shoulder, then scurries away,
daring me to chase, if only I am game.
My sleep is too poor, for I know he is there
Ready to pounce, and again shatter my life,
the depth of my soul screams aloud, beware.
"He'll be gone soon", so I have been told,
"just take the all my tablets",
but I still refuse, me who will not be cajoled.
I have seen him, truly I have,
truly I have.
