Mistakes And Misunderstandings
Lawrence S. Pertillar 1947 (Connecticut)
Mistakes admitted with attempts made,
To correct.
Should not by anyone be confused,
With a deliberate showing to them disrespect.
Some may purposely go out of their way.
To do wrongs to others.
As an attention to get,
Laughs to have in public displayed.
Yet...
The ones who come to understand,
How it must feel in someone else's shoes.
Are quick to apologize,
For steps they took.
To accept and believe...
The one abused may or not be amused too!
'I thought when you laughed,
You approved what I did.
But now I'm left by you confused.
Are you laughing at my act.
Performed behind your back?'
'Well...
Honestly?
Fools enjoy what other fools do.
And my laughter you heard to hear,
Is not with you but at you.
To leave me amused.'
'So...
You are not offended?'
'Of course i am offended.
However...
The mistakes and misunderstandings I make,
I chose to do...
In private to direct.
A fool like you,
Accustomed to laughing.
Loud and talking trash to think it will last.
And when I am through,
I may or may not...
Be in the mood to listen to your apology!
To believe I'll eat that stuff up like peanuts.'
'My apology?'
'Yes. Yes. That's why I'm here.
To pay my condolences.'
'Condolences?'
'YES!
Condolences.
Or visits made to deliver a message.
What difference does it make?
I have one thing in common with elephants.
Forgetting to forgive is not my specialty!
To remember which is personal.
And for what reasons why,
I choose to serve an applying of my pride.
LOL.
Come on laugh with me.
I'm joking.'
'I'm not so sure you are.'
'Call me Dumbo, again.
I love it.
LOL!'
